ANALYSIS OF THE CONTENT OF OPTICAL ACTIVE COMPONENTS IN THE SEA OF AZOV USING MODIS-AQUA/TERRA DATA FOR 2000 – 2024
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
This paper proposes a methodology for analyzing the content of optically active components in the Sea of Azov, which is often impossible to monitor due to high costs and the unavailability of direct measurements. Sea reflectance coefficients from the MODIS-Aqua/Terra satellite platforms for the period 2000–2024 were used as a proxy. A regional model for calculating the primary hydro-optical characteristics of the Sea of Azov was used to quantitatively assess the optical components of water quality. The developed methodology allowed us to study seasonal and spatial trends in selected optical parameters of the Sea of Azov over a 25-year observation period and obtain quantitative estimates, demonstrating the usefulness of this methodology in complex marine ecosystems.
