TRENDS IN SURFACE AIR TEMPERATURE AND LOW-LEVEL CLOUDS OVER THE SIBERIAN REGION

Abstract:
The paper studies the influence of low stratiform clouds (Sc, St, Ns) on the temperature regime of the Siberian region based on 50-year (19732022) observations from 70 meteorological stations. A comparative analysis of trends in surface air temperature and low cloud cover was conducted for four seasons (winter, spring, summer, and autumn). Warming in Siberia is observed throughout the territory, especially intensely at polar latitudes, and in all seasons, with a maximum in spring. The greatest trend in changes in the amount of low stratiform clouds is observed in winter: the maximum positive trend is in Western Siberia, and the largest (in absolute value) negative trend is in Eastern Siberia (in central Yakutia).
