The results of studies of propagation of the powerful femtosecond laser pulses in a high-pressure cell with preliminary structuring of the laser beam are presented. It was shown that a stochastically structured beam significantly tends to redistribute of laser energy into the high-intensity light channels compared to a beam with a Gaussian energy distribution in its cross-section. The number of such channels formed in the cell was measured as a function of pressure and pulse energy. There was compared such dependences for the cases in the cell and along an atmospheric path. It was shown that compared to a beam with a regular Gaussian profile, stochastic spatial modulation of laser radiation triggers earlier small-scale self-focusing of the beam and leads to more developed multiple filamentation when passing through the cell with a high-pressure gas.
