DETERMINATION OF WIND TURBULENCE PARAMETERS FROM THE INTEGRAL WIDTH OF THE DOPPLER SPECTRUM FROM MEASUREMENTS BY LRV LIDARS: ANALYSIS OF VERTICAL SOUNDING DATA BY THE LRV-2 LIDAR
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
This paper presents estimates of the integral width of the Doppler spectrum (IWDS) derived from LRV-2 lidar measurements during vertical sounding. During the experiment, the lidar alternately performed conical scanning and vertical sounding, which allowed the estimation of the turbulent kinetic energy dissipation rate using two methods: the vertical velocity spectral density method and the IWDS method. A satisfactory correlation coefficient (0.6–0.7) is observed between the time series of the dissipation rate estimates obtained by these two methods.
