SIMULATION OF EVOLUTION OF THE EFFECTIVE RADIUS OF A HIGH-POWER ULTRASHORT LASER BEAM IN A TURBULENT MEDIUM
Abstract and keywords
Abstract:
An original method for estimation of the characteristics of the areas with extreme intensity during filamentation of the ultrashort laser pulses in a turbulent medium has been developed. The method is intended to predict and interpret the experimental results for propagation conditions under different levels of turbulence. A reversal of collapse of beam self-focusing in a turbulent medium has been determined. The physical cause of this effect is the increase of random angular divergence of the beam during the nonlinear focusing stage.
