Abstract:
This paper presents the results of an assessment of one of the key characteristics of atmospheric optical turbulence—the angular size of atmospheric images at night—for the town of Tashanty, a promising site for a ground-based optical telescope. To better understand the distribution of atmospheric optical turbulence with altitude, vertical profiles of the structural characteristics of turbulent fluctuations in the air refractive index were constructed. The interval assessment is based on the processing of ERA-5 reanalysis data, as well as the reconciliation of calculated data with measured data.
