It is proposed to obtain information on the emission spectra of red sprites in a wide spectral range and at high resolution using their laboratory analogs. In this case, the obtained spectra are tested using a model of kinetic processes taking into account electronically excited states of N2 and N2+ in a mixture of N2 and O2 gases. Theoretically calculated and experimentally measured ratios of spectral densities of emission of the red range bands of molecular nitrogen to spectral densities of the ultraviolet bands of N2 and N2+ are compared at pressures of 0.03−1 Torr.
