The paper presents the results of identifying high-level clouds based on the data analysis from ground-based lidar sensing of the atmosphere and reanalysis of MERRA-2. The height distributions of the upper and lower boundaries of high-level clouds were studied as part of a series of experiments conducted from 2009 to the present. The obtained data are compared with the distribution characteristics of the "Cloud" parameter, which reflects the probability of clouds at a certain height, calculated from MERRA-2 satellite reanalysis data. The comparison of these two sources was carried out considering the time and location of the lidar experiments. The analysis of the results showed good agreement in identifying high-level clouds from both independent sources. This opens new opportunities for expanding the database of atmospheric parameters and further developing algorithms for predicting boundary heights using machine learning methods.
