This study presents a comprehensive approach to the investigation of high-altitude clouds (HLCs), combining lidar observations, radiosonde observations, satellite spectroradiometry (MODIS), and atmospheric reanalysis data (ERA5 and MERRA-2). Special attention is given to HLCs containing horizontally oriented ice crystals (specular clouds). Their spatial characteristics and typical formation meteorological conditions are described. The effectiveness of integrating diverse data sources to refine the microphysical and optical properties of clouds is demonstrated. The results can be used to improve the accuracy of climate models and short-term cloud forecasts, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary analysis in meteorology and climatology.
