We describe constructing an algorithm for controlling adaptive optics systems, which uses prediction of the evolution of spatial and temporal distributions of phase distortions in an optical wave when propagating under conditions of atmospheric turbulence and the generation of control signals for correcting wavefront distortions in real time on inhomogeneous paths. It is shown that on inclined atmospheric paths, instead of vertical profiles of turbulence and wind speed, it is possible to use averaged values, namely, the moment of wind speed and the Fried parameter obtained from sounding data
