The latitudinal change in the volume concentrations of submicron (Vf) and coarse (Vc) aerosol and the mass concentration of black carbon (eBC) in the near-water layer of the atmosphere over the Barents and Kara Seas is analyzed on the basis of the data of long-term expedition studies. It is shown that the general tendency is a decrease in concentrations in the northern direction at presence of nonlinearity of the latitudinal variation (a flat section in the middle of the range). Concentrations of eBC, Vf and Vc, at latitudes from 70° to 84°N decrease, on average, by 3.3, 4.6 and 6.6 times, respectively. It is noted that the latitudinal decrease in concentrations is caused by movement from the continent (weakening of long-range transports), and the nonlinearity is due to the influence of islands (regional transports).
