ALGORITHM FOR ESTIMATING SUSPENDED MATTER CONCENTRATION IN THE LAPTEV SEA USING VIIRS DATA

Abstract (English):
The algorithm for estimating suspended matter concentration using data from the VIIRS satellite ocean color scanner in the Laptev Sea was obtained. For this purpose, data from in situ measurements of this bio-optical characteristic in 2015, 2017 and 2018 were used. The study demonstrates that remote sensing data with a temporal difference of less than 48 hours between measurements, acquired at solar zenith angles of up to 75°, can be used to develop the formula. The regional algorithm is based on the correlation between suspended matter concentration and the backscattering coefficient of suspended particles. The coefficient of determination is 0.94, and the mean relative error is 35%.
